A callback to 50/50’s original name, Shot in the Dark is the duos third album. The scene is set with the opening track Someone Put the Lights Out, the album is a moody, dramatic and powerful record that doesn’t hold back, themes reaffirmed with early songs such as the bouncing anthem Facing the Storm. The reflective electronic pop track Tuck You Up reveals one of the softer parts of the album, setting us up for the tragic single All I Need with moving vocals by Gill Ware. The haunting atmosphere of Beware the Night leads us toward the end of the album with the truly troubled Meet Half Way, making way for a surprisingly tender closing track, Greg’s Song. The touching song serves as an ode to Richard’s son Gregory, born in 1979, at the start of 50/50’s music journey.
