The experimental 6 song EP takes us right back to the early days of 50/50 with She’ll Never Know, an eery opener with clear roots in the progressive rock sounds of the early 1970s. She Lies Down Slowly, another early track, follows with a strong building verse that leads us safely into a swirling melody. Hold Me Back strips it back with a distinctive yet tentative electronic soundscape behind soft vocals. After The Fall brings back the swirling guitars, pairing it with the wandering vocals that bring us our titular lyric, My Head Wasn’t Invited. The penultimate track, Seems To Me is an anxious yet tender song that mixes feelings of desperation and melancholy. Finally, the gentle track It’s All In My Mind, perhaps the most vulnerable of all the tracks on the EP, is right at home here closing out the record and leaving the listener with a warmth alongside that all too familiar sense of melancholy.
